Version Map
Brutal Honesty Kit v3.7.1 uses a release-index plus implementation-path layout.
| Path | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|
VERSION | Current release marker | Contains 3.7.1. |
v3.7.1/ | Current public release index | Points readers to the current adoption prompt, install guide, and implementation docs. |
v3.5/ | Current implementation directory | Load-bearing path for validators, tests, fixtures, templates, commands, hooks, and convention docs. |
v3.3/ | Historical release material | Kept for migration and provenance. |
v3.2/ | Historical baseline material | Kept for migration and provenance. |
Why v3.7.1 Still Uses v3.5/
The current installable implementation remains under v3.5/ intentionally.
The shipped validators, templates, examples, tests, artifact paths, output
defaults, and historical docs contain literal v3.5/ references. Renaming the
folder without a dedicated path migration would break those surfaces.
Treat v3.5/ as the compatibility implementation path for the current
v3.7.1 release, not as an obsolete release folder.
Path Migration Rule
Do not rename v3.5/ casually. A valid rename requires at least:
- updating all literal path references in validators, templates, tests, fixtures, examples, docs, hooks, commands, and smoke runners;
- running the focused v3.7.1 validator and hook tests;
- running schema-drift validation from the repository root;
- updating every public doc and release note that explains the path model.
Until that migration exists, use v3.7.1/ for public release navigation and
v3.5/ for implementation files.
